Flowering Crab

My flowering crab tree is blooming right now! Last year, we had so much rain, that it never got pretty! Well, this year was different it's gorgeous! We got some more flowers planted today, before it started raining - impatiens, New Guinea impatiens, a sunflower, a large marigold and some basil plants. I had already planted geraniums, vincas and spikes in my front planter. I love spring!

The following all begin with 'In your lifetime, have you....'

1. ...ridden on a rollercoaster? Yes, but not for a LONG time! Theme parks are so expensive now!
2. ...performed (in any area of the arts) onstage? Yes, I was in band, from 5th grade thru 12th grade. I was also in a drum and bugle corps, when I was middle-school age, and for a short time, I was in a local symphony. Now, I sing in my church choir.
3. ...planted a garden? Most definitely! I planted geraniums, vincas and spikes, yesterday!
4. ...ever had to reformat your hard drive due to a virus/spyware?
Yes, for spyware. With our firewall and virus programs, we don't have virus problems!

6. ...sang karaoke? Never! LOL!
7. ...been interviewed by a local tv station or newspaper? Nope!
8. ...witnessed a tornado/earthquake/hurricane first-hand? Yes, a tornado, when I was 4 years old! I remember watching the funnel cloud, when it had moved out over Lake Michigan. My mom, my sisters and I were at a wedding, when the storm hit, but we got home, before the tornado hit. Scary!
9. ...participated in a photo scavenger hunt? Never
10. ...traveled to another country? Yes! I got to go to Mexico, when I was 15. We spent a week in Mexico City and a week at the International Girl Scout Center, in Cuernavaca! It was a LOT of fun!

Mowing Lawn on Saturday

It was the second beautiful Saturday, in a row! It was also the second Saturday in a row that everyone in view of my house, mowed their lawns, too! So, everyone's yard looks nice! For the last few years, we had some young people living next door, who didn't care what their yard looked like and they mowed only about once a month! Ugh! So, even when they did mow, it looked like crap, since the grass was so long and then dried, etc. It is sooooo nice having a next-door neighbor who cares about their yard.

I got my spikes, vincas, and geraniums planted in my front planter today. We went to Home Depot and I got a bag of potting soil, with Miracle Gro in it! I add a bag, every year! Tomorrow, it's supposed to rain, so I suppose I won't get any planting done, then.

We got up to 74 today! Weather Underground, this morning, said we were only going to be in the 50's, near Lake Michigan today! Well, guess they were wrong! LOL!

05-05-05

Today is a special day, because 05.05.05 comes only once in 1,000 years and coinciding with Thursday(5th Day of the week) comes once in 7,000 years. It will happen only once in our lifetime! Isn't that cool?

It's even a fairly decent day, with sunshine and temps in the 50's so far. My little daffodils are finally blooming. Yay. My lupine plant keeps getting bigger, too! I love having flowers blooming again! Emily is growing a sunflower that needs to be planted outside, soon, but we are still having a little frost in the mornings, so it's just going to have to wait a little longer.

It's really nice outside and I think that is why Jasmine bugged me to go outside. We played with her frisbee and she actually caught it 3-4 times. She is still learning how! Sometimes, I think I don't throw it that well! LOL! She is excited about this and that's great, because she seems really bored with her balls. All winter long, she went nuts for balls and now, she can't be bothered to go get them! I think I should just pack them away for a while!

Sarah's Confirmation

Sarah was confirmed today. She was blessed and prayed over and presented with a stole that has her baptism date and confirmation date on it.

We had 18 people at our house, including us and it all went without a hitch! We had brats and burgers, fruit salad, potato-broccoli salad and carrots with dip, along with cheese and crackers. Then cake for dessert.

Yesterday, we spent the whole day cleaning and have a several bags of clothing to take to St. Vincent de Paul! Yikes!

Monday Madness 5-1-05

This week's questions come from one of our fellow Monday Madness participants, Elena. Thanks so much for the questions, Elena! =)

1. How do you find out which performances are in town and at which venue? Check venue websites
2. How do you buy your tickets (i.e. online, box office, eBay)? Usually online, because many of the performances we see are in Milwaukee and that's an hour away.
3. Do you have copies of seating charts you refer to or just accept what's offered? Most venues seem to have seating charts online, so we can see where we are sitting.
4. Which is most important: seating location or hearing the music live?Seating location
5. Which venue, if any, do you absolutely refuse to see a performance at? Don't have one that I hate
6. Do you dine at the venue or eat prior to the performance and why?
My kids and I went to an evening performance and we ate before, since the venue didn't have any restaurants in the building
7. Do you attend performances with certain folks only? I only see the stuff my kids want to see. My groups would be way too expensive.
8. Which items are standard accessories/must haves for any performance? I have no idea
9. Do you buy merchandise/souvenirs? I'm too cheap, but the last concert I took my daughter too, she got a t-shirt and got it autographed, too. She had babysitting money.
10. What's the most you ever spent for a ticket (one ticket) and which performance? Was it worth it and why? I think we spent around $30 for the last Jump 5 concert we went to.
11. How far will you drive for that performance you just can't miss? Not too far, since most of those concerts would be way out of my price range. I would have liked to see the Billy Joel/Elton John concert that was here a year or two ago. It was in Milwaukee, so just an hour away.
