Monday Madness 10-17-05

I thought we'd do a little 'this or that' this week! Enjoy!

Which one?

1. Lemonade or Iced Tea? Lemonade (or lemonade and iced tea mixed together! LOL!)
2. DVD or VHS? DVD. I love the special features!
3. Gold or Silver? Silver fits my color scheme better, but I like gold, too!
4. Baseball or Tennis? Neither! Wouldn't really want to watch either one for an extended time and wouldn't want to play either one.
5. Spring or Autumn? Autumn, when the leaves are still pretty and haven't fallen yet, like RIGHT NOW in Sheboygan. I think we are at peak right now and leaves are already falling quickly, but the trees are still pretty.

Vibrant Orange

Aren't these pumpkins pretty? We went to the pumpkin farm recently and Sarah took this awesome picture! We have very windy weather today and the leaves are falling in droves! People are going to have to get serious about raking now! The trees by the clinic, that were just stunning a few days ago are now nearly naked! Boo hoo! I like the colors, but hate that the leaves fall off, but winter is coming!

When we go to South Dakota next summer, we just found out that there is a Laura Ingalls Wilder museum, in De Smet. We are going to go there. It will be so much fun!

Fall

I love fall. I love the pretty colored leaves and geese migrating south and resting in the pond near my house. Migrating geese always remind me that my wedding anniversary is coming up (18 years on October 24th!), since we saw so many geese in the air, as we traveled back and forth to Milwaukee, from Marshfield, WI, to finish up wedding plans.

The next "mileage marker" is the trees being nearly naked, as we approach the beginning of November, since that is what they looked like, when I started my first nursing job in Marshfield, back in November 1983. It's like the marker of when I started my adult life! I started my job in the fall and got married in the fall. It's usually all I think about, this time of year.

Around Sheboygan, we have lots of pretty colors, but leaves have only started to fall. We are a ways away from bare trees. People haven't really started raking yet! The autumn applause trees on the way home from Sarah's school are just gorgeous right now!

I so need to have one of these trees in my own yard! LOL!

Pretty Fall Colors

We went to Parnell Tower on Saturday to see pretty fall colors. It's in the Northern Unit of the Kettle Moraine Forest, in WI. We were not disappointed! You have to somewhat physically fit to go there, though, since you need to climb a HUGE hill to get to the tower and then climb the 60-ft tower, too. In the end it's all worth it, though, since the views are spectacular!

We saw some people having a picnic and then wished we'd though of that! They were eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, potato chips and sliced apples. Next year! Or maybe sooner, at Kohler Andrae State Park.

Then we went to a pumpkin farm! They had so many cool gourds and pumpkins! We bought pumpkins and swan-neck gourd, and some little gourds.

Today, we made chili and apple muffins. I love cold-weather food! The chili was soooo good.

You can see our pictures on Flickr! See the Flickr badge to the left!

Monday Madness 10-9-05

1. Name one productive thing you accomplished this past weekend.
We walked up the big hill to the tower, and then 60ft up to the top of the tower, to look at pretty fall leaves on Saturday! Then we went to the pumpkin farm to buy pumpkins. On Sunday, we made chili and apple muffins for supper!
2. Name two things that you look forward to doing.
Carving pumpkins for Halloween and going to the apple orchard for apples and caramel apples.
3. Name three things that gross you out.
Cleaning up sputum
Cleaning up a freshly swatted bug
Cleaning up a loose poop on a baby! (the kind that takes about half a package of wipes!)
4. Name four things that you normally do on a daily basis.
Check my email
Do laundry
Eat, sleep, work
Take the dog outside to do her business
5. Name five things that you own that you think you could get rid of and not miss.
My bread machine - it doesn't work very well
Old magazines that no one reads anymore
Old clothes that I don't wear anymore
Zip Drive - rarely use it anymore and have a dvd burner now!
Floppy Disk Drive - we finally burned our floppies to a cd!

Saturday Morning

Finally got a fall layout on my home.htm page! It's about time, being early October and all! LOL! DH left to go help a friend with his computer and kids are still sleeping, or at least not down here in the basement, anyway. So, it's quiet here. I think Jasmine is upstairs in her crate, in the kitchen.

We are going to Parnell Tower today, to view fall colors. Can't wait to post pics later! I wonder if we can see the Acuity American flag from there!

Temps in the 40's right now and supposed to be mid-50's later. Sounds like a perfect day to go to Parnell Tower and maybe the apple orchard. Ummm! Crunchy apples! (said like Homer Simpson!)

Chilly Thursday

After temps in the 80's the last three days, it got down to 47 today! I'm guessing no more muggy weather to deal with now, until next spring or summer! Our new windows are keeping our house a lot warmer than the old ones! It's a good thing, since heating costs are going to be expensive this year. We got a few glimpses of the sun today, but pretty much it was cloudy otherwise.

Monday Madness 10-2-05

I once ran a meme called What's On ... Right Now? It's been a while since that site has been closed, but thinking about it has inspired me to ask the following 3 questions...

1. What's on your computer desk?
An assortment of cds, some in cases, some not, including the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy I just got, when my daughter and I went to the concert the other day, an empty can of Diet Coke, some dishes that need to go upstairs to the dishwasher, a clipboard that stands up to put copy on, a monitor, a computer tower, a scanner, a cd holder, a drawing pad, a folder, a middle school newsletter, a zip drive, some pontytail holders, a shoelace and as always, NO PENS!

2. What does your computer desktop background look like?
It's a picture from our trip to Niagara Falls this past summer! It's looking at Horseshoe Falls, from the Canadian side, with a rainbow and the Maid of the Mist on its way out to drench the passengers! (Mist? How about RAIN?!)

3. What's on your agenda for the upcoming week?
I work at school during the lunch hour from Mon-Thurs, I work at the clinic on Tue and Wed. Other than taking kids to and from school, I really don't have any big plans.
