No Zoo Today

After arranging my work schedule, to have this afternoon off, so we could do just a day-trip on spring break to somewhere fun, the weather is icky, so we decided to stay home. The wind advisory and a chance of rain, just didn't bode well for a trip to the zoo. It just recently started raining, too. You just spend too much time outside, for rain at the zoo to be a fun thing.

We will go tomorrow, even though it's supposed to be cooler, since there isn't any chance of rain. The sun may also be out more tomorrow, as well. We also will have more time to play tomorrow, since no one has to work!

Went to the doctor

Went to the doctor today. He hesitated a moment about giving me antibiotics, but then gave me a prescription for Amoxicillin, anyway. I didn't cough nearly as bad today, as I did yesterday, thank goodness. I will be feeling much better soon!

I'm supposed to sing in the choir this Sunday. I think I'm going to skip it this week and save my voice for Easter! We'll see how it sounds on Sunday. I know my voice is round enough today, that singing isn't really a good thing, though.

DH is also sick, with the same thing, although the doc told him, he was very close to having bronchitis, too! We are both on antibiotics. I bought new toothbrushes for us, today, so we can start over with those.

My last sinus infection was on February 9th, so it wasn't that long ago.

On a brighter note, we had a gorgeous spring day today. I got to enjoy a little bit of it, before I had to go to work today. Tomorrow, I have off and I hope it's nice then, too. Maybe we'll take the dog to Kohler Andrae State Park tomorrow. She would love that!

On Friday, we hope to visit the Milwaukee Zoo. There is a chance of thunderstorms, so we'll have to play that by ear. The temp is supposed to be in the 50's!

Sinus infection

Bleah, my second sinus infection in a month! Good grief. I'm sick of being sick. I was supposed to work until 5pm today, but the lead person at work, asked me if I wanted to go home, because I looked like I was fading fast. Actually, I think they were sick of hearing me cough.

I see my doctor in the morning. Then I have to work tomorrow afternoon. Who knows if I will feel any better tomorrow. Oh well. Hopefully, I'll get on antibiotics tomorrow and start feeling better soon.

Monday Madness 3-27-06

This week's questions come from our friend, Tilly! Thank you, Tilly, for offering these for us this week! =) And thanks to all of you for playing each week!

1. Do you use a bag/sachel/wallet?
I carry a purse, with a wallet inside it.
2. Do you use the same bag/sachel/wallet everyday or change depending on your outfit?
I only have 2 purses and really don't have purse/outfit combinations. I change my purse, to the season, more than to the outfit.
3. What do you carry in your bag/sachel/wallet?
My wallet, various receipts, and my calendar.
4. Do you check and change the contents of your bag/sachel/wallet before you go anywhere specific or do you take everything everywhere?
I don't have that much in my purse. It all just stays there.
5. How often do you have a good clean out of your bag/sachel/wallet?
Recently, I cleaned out all the receipts I didn't need anymore. Then I realized that the little velcro pocket on the outside had an enormous amount of change in it, that was making my purse very heavy, so I emptied that out. It's much lighter now.

First day of spring? Pfft!

First day of spring? Hah! Typical Wisconsin weather. It's cold, windy, and to top it all off, we have a good stiff breeze off Lake Michigan. Brrrrrr!

2pm CST weather stats:

Temperature: 34.3 °F / 1.3 °C
Overcast
Wind: 12 mph / 19 km/h from the ENE
Gusts to 20.0 mph / 32.2 km/h
Wind chill: 26 °F / -4 °C.

After being outside for 40 minutes at my lunch supervisor job, which is fairly close to Lake Michigan and being exposed to all that wind, I'm still cold and I got off work an hour ago! I just hate weather like we have today! It feels more like winter and actually we had snow flurries, too! It will be hours before I really feel warm again, because I got so chilled at work. I even was wearing a long-sleeved shirt, my heaviest sweatshirt, my Land's End winter jacket, a hat and mittens! You would think I was dressed warm enough! That wind was going right through me, though.

Ugh, it's supposed to be like this all week, too. Spring comes late, to those of us near the lake! That cold lake keeps the rest of us cold, too.

How about some 'fill-in-the-blanks' this week? Thanks for playing, everyone! =)

1. When driving in my car, my radio station is usually tuned to _WPFF, a local Christian radio station. In the morning, they have a pair of DJs who are often very funny_.
2. When I turn my television on, even if I'm not really paying close attention to it, it's usually on _a news station_.
3. If I owned a pet, I would own a _dog_, because _they are so lovable and cuddly_.
4. I own a _Brother HL 5040 Laser _ printer. I bought it because _you get a lot of copies from one laser cartridge. The inkjet consumables were about killing us_! We have 2 lasers and one inkjet, so we can print color, if we want to.
5. You can find all kinds of books in my bookshelves, but mostly this type: _historical and romantic fiction_.
6. I take about _20_ pictures every month.
7. I blog about _4_ times a month.
8. I've been really busy _driving my teenager to school events_ lately.

My birthday 3-12-06

It's my birthday today. Isn't that a great way to start out the week? Eating at my favorite restaurant, where they serve organic milk and free-range eggs, was the best way to start out the weekend. They aren't open on Sundays, so we ate there yesterday. I had a yogurt-granola mixture with lots of fruit, that was sooo yummy. The kids had French toast with apples and Gary had eggs, toast and sausage. Sarah and I also had juice mixtures made with apple, orange, carrot and ginger. Emily had fresh-squeezed orange juice and Gary had coffee, which even tasted good to me.

From my secret pal at church, I got a little potted daisy mum plant! The flowers are so pretty and smell so good.

From my SIL, I got some lavender-vanilla hand lotion and some Belgian chocolate! I was even nice enough to share.

From my parents I got a hand-knit sweater vest and a Lands End turtleneck to match! Yay!

The best part of my birthday was not having to work today and not having any plans, other than church! Life has been hectic here lately and it was nice to just be me today.

Sunday Snow 3-5-06

We have gotten about 2 inches of snow tonight! It's so pretty. Yeah, we want spring to come, but big fluffy snowflakes in the dark, against a light is sooo pretty.

We are supposed to hit 50's on Friday, so the snow won't last long.

http://www.dropshots.com/dawnk777 for videos of Jasmine in the snow and the kids playing their instruments!

Monday Madness 3-5-06

1. How many hobbies do you have?
Maybe two
2. Name at least one of your hobbies.
I like working on webpages and I like to knit.
3. What do you like about your hobby?
Either one is relaxing, most of the time. Both of them can be exasperating at times, too.
4. What keeps you from spending more time on any one of your hobbies?
Work, family responsibilities. Wanting to just surf my message boards, instead of working on my hobbies! LOL!
5. Do you have any hobbies that you haven't taken up yet, but would like to?
Scrapbooking or quilting!
6. Have you ever decided to give up a hobby? If so, why?
I don't do cross-stitch as much as I used to. My eyes are getting older and it got harder to see! I think I need one of those magnifying things! I did enjoy doing it once upon a time! Maybe with my bifocals I could see better. I haven't tried it in a long time!
