Rainy Saturday 4-29-06

Well, you know what they say...April showers bring May flowers! LOL! We are in for a rainy night here. It's also Prom Night for one of the high schools. Sarah decided to wear the same dress she wore last year. So, was her friend, until she found a dress on sale for $30. That would be too good to pass up, I think.

Sarah got her hair done, around 11am this morning! LOL! She had to go the whole day, with her hair fancied up! We only had to repin one little piece, as she was getting ready tonight, so she did well.

The other good news is that Sarah and her friend, were both accepted into Bellin College of Nursing's summer camp! She is very pleased. They get to shadow a nurse, see the rescue helicopter, learn CPR, get a pair of scrubs to take home, and stay in the dorms. It happens in June, and it's about 4 days long. I think it will be fun.

I was working with Gary's union's website tonight.

I realized tonight that it still had code leftover from Front Page, despite the fact that we bought Dreamweaver 2-3 years ago! LOL! I had a lot of stuff to fix! Then I was messing up the CSS, but I finally figured it out!

Monday Madness 4-17-06

1. What was the highlight of your weekend?
Getting together with my family, on Easter Sunday. It was only planned on Saturday.
2. What was the best meal you ate this past weekend?
The meal we had at my sisters. We all brought a part of it, so no one person had to slave in the kitchen too much.
3. Did you spend time with anyone special?
Yeah, my side of the family, who we don't see all that often.
4. Did the weekend seem to drag, or go by too quickly?
The weekend went quickly enough, despite kids being off from school on Friday and Monday. Tomorrow, we are back to the routine! Only 36 days of school left!

Saturday night

We have been spoiled the last few days, with temps in the 70's! Today was only in the 50's and it seemed so chilly.

Yesterday, we put bricks around the flower garden. It looks so nice. Now I can't wait to plant flowers.

Today, the girls and I made:

blueberry muffins
cranberry-orange muffins
assembled cheesy hash browns (will bake tomorrow)
carrot cake and the cream cheese frosting (will frost tomorrow)
and
boiled the eggs for dying.

In addition, I had to go to the store to buy all this stuff. Now, I have to get upstairs, so I can assemble Easter baskets, then put some clothes in the dryer and go to bed!

My daffodils are blooming! I'm so happy and I'm overrun with grape hyacinths!

We sent the Canon A75 in for servicing, about a month ago. Today, yes on Saturday, we got a FedEx delivery from Canon. It was a Canon A510! It works so well! It's a refurbished one. So, I guess the Canon A75 went to the big camera graveyard in the sky. Sarah is very happy. It was a pain not having an extra camera around, since Gary likes to take the Canon Powershot G3 to work with him, all the time!

Well, I'm off to make baskets now.

Monday Madness 4-9-06

The following questions were offered by one of our fellow participants, who wishes to remain anonymous. After you've answered the first question, proceed to the set of questions below it, depending on if your answer was YES or NO. Thanks so much for playing! =)

Do you like to shop? (I think I can answer both categories!)

IF YES, answer the following:

1. What is your favorite store? Why?
Lands' End, Kohls department store, Target. I love LE clothes. I love the selection of stuff that Kohls has and I love that Target has cards that I can't find anywhere else.
2. Do you only shop when there is something you specifically need or want or do you sometimes go shopping just for "something to do?"
Usually there is something that I need.
3. Do you prefer shopping online or in stores?
I like both. Sometimes I don't want to leave the house and sometimes I want to see the product in person.
4. Do you have a shopping buddy or are you perfectly content going alone?I like to bring my kids. DH is usually not fun to take shopping.

IF NO, answer the following:

1. Even though you don't like to shop, where do you find yourself shopping most often?
Hopefully not at Walmart.
2. Do you try to send someone else to shop for you? if so, who and why that person?
Sometimes, I try to talk DH into going grocery shopping, because I don't feel like doing it myself. There really isn't anyone else, since the kids don't drive yet.
3. Do you think shopping online is as annoying as shopping in stores?
Sometimes it can be, like if everything you want is out of stock, or if the setup of the site makes it difficult to view lots of different items.
4. Does anyone close to you encourage to go shopping with her (or him)? if so, do you feel tortured and go or just say no?
There are times that DH is running boring - to me - errands and I would rather stay home and play on my computer. Sometimes I will go with him and sometimes I ask to stay home!

Monday Madness 4-03

Thank you, Tricia, for the first two questions below! Thanks to all of you for playing! Have an excellent week! =)

1. Do you own any box sets of your favorite shows?
We have Season 1 and Season 2 of Full House. (LOL!)
2. Are you penpals with other people?
I have some email friends I have been corresponding with, since 1998. Does that count?
3. Do you still send out real, paper cards in the mail?
Yes, when I remember!
4. Have you ever bought or sold anything on Ebay?
Sold: Camera stuff, a pair of nursing shoes, Green Bay Packer kids stuff, that my kids had grown out of.
Bought: Camera stuff, computer stuff, dvds
Also, when clearing out my FIL's house, a lot of that stuff went on Ebay, too.
5. Did you have to set your clocks an hour ahead this past weekend?
Clocks were set ahead, after I mistakenly put them back an hour. Whoops!
6. How many of your blog buddies' birthdays do you know?
Not too many of them.
7. When is your birthday (need not include year)?
March 12th, so it just was! I'm getting very close to the 50th one! Yikes! Still a couple years to go, though.

Can't Sing

I have been coughing for 2 weeks and even though I've been on Amoxicillin, since last Tuesday, and my voice isn't as husky as it used to be, I still can't sing.

I had to pass on singing with my choir this morning and I didn't sing out in the congregation either! Then, they sang Rock of Ages (There is no Rock. There is no God like our God), as a postlude. Darn it! I love that song, but no way could I have held out the long notes in the refrain. I decided not to sing today, so that hopefully by Easter Sunday in 2 weeks, I will be able to sing.

I hated not being able to sing in church. For me, church is all about the music. I have loved singing in church, since I was a kid! Even though sometimes, it's hard to get out of bed at 6am, on the Sundays that I sing, I know I would die without it! LOL!

Just realized that I forgot to write about the zoo trip! We went on April 1st and had a great time, despite 40-something temps, a cool breeze and gray skies. I don't know if I have ever been to the zoo this early in the year. The wearm-weather animals were all inside, since it was a bit chilly for some of them to be outside. We got to see the new big cat's display - Florence Mila Borchert Big Cat Country. They have tigers walking around right in front of you, with just a plexiglass window between you and them. The great part is that the plexiglass doesn't show in the photographs, so it looks like you are right in the display, with the animals. They have 2 spotted hyenas in there, too! They are pretty big!
