Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. I love the sights, smells and tastes of all that Christmas has to offer. My family loves to drive around town viewing all the Christmas decorations! We wonder how they find the time and money to put up so many decorations! We like driving past the Christmas trees in the department store window downtown. They are so pretty! We enjoy going to get our own Christmas tree so we can put up our own decorations!

We love to make the sugar cookies and my children can't wait to help with them each year. My personal favorites are the peanut butter blossoms and the spritz cookies. I think I like the peanut butter blossoms because of the big chocolate kiss in the middle of the cookie. I think it's fun to make spritz cookies with the cookie press. The kids have fun decorating them before we bake them!

Finally, I love going to church on Christmas Eve to celebrate the coming of Christ! There is something special about singing Christmas carols and hearing the familiar gospel in a sanctuary all decked out for Christmas! I always sing "Silent Night" with tears in my eyes. It just looks so neat with all of us standing their in the dark with our candles lit so brightly!

After we get home from church, we eat the lasagna that was baking while we were gone, (I have time bake on my oven.) The house smells so good and the lasagna tastes so good.  This will be the 4th year we have had lasagna on Christmas Eve.  We get all excited about it long before Christmas gets here!

The girls look forward to opening presents on Christmas Day now.  For many years, we went to my mom and dad's on Christmas Day and we would have to get up and rush out of the house to get to their house by 10, since we lived over an hour away.  They we would have to rush from my parent's to Gary's family.  Now, we see my family on a different day and we can get up, open presents, eat a fancy, leisurely breakfast, enjoy our presents and each other until it's time to see Gary's family in the afternoon!  We loved that last year!  I like to make an egg bake sort of thing because you can assemble it the night before and then just put it in the oven when you get up.  It bakes while you open presents and it's ready when you are done!
